As the clouds collide,
And turn a darkening gray
The air becomes astir,
Filling with a dry dampness,
People start to mummer,
“Looks like rain”
They complain and moan,
And as they grumble,
The loud thunder rumbles,
And the sky opens up,
The heavy water is let lose upon the earth,
And the lovers rejoice,
As the people with their navy-blue umbrellas,
Scurry to seek the cover of inside.
The lovers laugh in amusement,
As they splash each others face,
The people dressed in dim yellow
Continue in their hurry,
The lovers stop and let the rain tip downward
Wrapping their bodies in chilly wetness,
As the people never even notice,
The lovers watch life’s smell miracle,
Of the rains power of renewal,
As they run into the hammering rain,
They laugh,
A laugh clearer than bells ringing on Ester morning
They smile,
A smile brighter then the sun’s first glare,
They touch,
A touch more gentle than a butterfly’s wing,
They kiss,
A kiss sweeter than spring rose’s first bloom,
They embrace,
An embrace warmer than the beach in summer time,
They are the free,
They are the joyful,
They are the captivating,
They are the dancers,
They are the rain lovers.
When the rain ceases to be more than a drizzle,
And the clouds turn away,
The people fill the street once more,
Busy in their day,
As the rain lovers kiss once more,
Than dissolve into the rains last dance,
Now nothing but a vapor,
As the grass turns green,
Nothing but a memory remains,
Until the rain comes anew.

This was great..I think we all write about rain..it's kind of romantic. I really liked this:
As the rain lovers kiss once more,
Than dissolve into the rains last dance, |

vey nice poem.
I was once writing in the parklands around Adelaide when it started to rain and everyone else quickly ran for cover while I just smiled, slowed down and rejoiced in life - I got a few weird looks, but I'm used to that. I wrote a poem about that but probably won't post it (it's an old piece laying around somewhere and I probably won't like it very much anymore).
Still, I love the feeling in this one. I live with the belief that life is for living and that this world is incredible - something that became a wedge between that girl I wrote about in "When I sent you away" and myself.
Pity more people seem unable to embrace life...

When we take the time to observe people, we come up with stuff like this. Great observatory write.
I have a poem here called "rain", though different from your approach, still it's the same. I also, in forums, am looking for weather poems. If you go there, it's called "awesome weather," and I'd love it if you'd contribute. Nice write....
