When I sent you away

Contributed by one-curly-fry on Sunday, 17th September 2006 @ 07:20:20 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

I sent you away
because your heart was already gone
regardless of your touch reaching me
regardless of my longing
to feel your lips
upon my own
I sent you away
knowing you were The One
and winter would never pass again
from this empty heart
that saw the sun
for just the shortest time
I sent you away
one cold morning
resolute for once in my life
I cried
and broke out of the trance
to see dusk in your eyes
I sent you away
bags packed
a heart given up
a world turned upside down
and you just walked
without even a fight.

SHE - I'm a guy... funny how you instinctly thought me to be a female.

and yeah, a lot of people have asked me that - about her being the one. I've known other women in my short and colourful life but no-one else has ever affected me like her from a simple touch alone.
There were many things about us that weren't alike and yet underneath it all we just clicked.
What changed was aour long term goals.. It's safe to say we were growing apart and she no longer worked on saving us - so I had to end it, although it broke my heart to do it.

You obviously had a deep love for this girl. Your work here shows the heartache and agony the break up caused and also that even if we start to build a wall around those feelings, all it takes is one meeting to tear that wall back down to it's foundations.

I think your last two lines are particularly powerful and hint at the tremendous hurt you must have felt when you realised that perhaps she wasn't as deeply in the relationship as yourself.

Well written.
