‘I love you.’
she says to him,
‘but just try to hold your tongue
for I dislike your views
and disbelieve your beliefs
and grow frustrated
at your frustrations
and am not entertained
by your jokes…
‘Believe me baby
I still love you.
‘The way you move your lips
and how your always changing things
with those heavy hands
and the contortion of powerful muscles
as you walk
and how safe I feel
in your hold…
‘But just try to hold your tongue
so I love your image
and forget that you’re human too.”

People can be vain, cant they. If she couldn't take you as a whole, then you're better off without her.
I especially liked the first 3 lines. The ambiguity of which way you were going to go (tongue-in cheek or heart-felt emotion) worked well for me and you followed it up well.
Good job

I can relate to this poem quite well. It's funny how after you get away from the negative people in your life, you often wonder what took so long for you to do it. Very well worded and a great flow to the poem as well. |
