The Gift?

Contributed by Jason_Robert_Britt on Thursday, 13th February 2003 @ 08:20:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Poured out of a liquid womb
Into this collage of brillance
Everything sparkles as new
To the eyes of the child
Life is so sweet to the touch
Fresh to the taste
What gift is this inheritance?
What sprightly clevage is life
From the darkness
From the void that it once was
Besmirch this not
This beatific existance
With news of it's brevity
For all that shimmered
Will turn dull
In the incubus of death
Avert thy eyes
And whisper not to the child
What is self-evident
Let not death take him
Whilst he is still alive

Wow, Jason! What a great poem! What a mastery of words! I thank you for your complimentary messages on my poetry. I am curious about your age and experience in life.
God bless you. Bizzy
