The Falling Man: an iconic image since 9/11
Two pillars of wisdom,
What have we learned?
- Hubris will always get you burned
The enemy is just as brave
- We can’t afford to be naïve.
Great pillars of heartache,
What have we lost?
- Lives and freedoms were the cost
Brought down by violent acts
- We can’t afford to ever relax.
Tall towers of learning,
What was taught?
- Commodities are for naught
When a distorted act of faith destroys
- We can’t afford to play with toys.
Dual symbols of will,
Are we so strong?
- Men of devotion proved that wrong
Many still plan to make us pay
- We can’t afford to repeat this day.

We can't afford ... not to remember that day and re member with our fellow humans being in reason and understanding. I read recently a prayer: "May there be less hate for us and more love for the children." The world cannot afford hate. Nice tribute, Spike. Thanks. |

(first I have to say, I like cowboy's quote)
S, I just read another write about this horrid day .. and I
am just as moved and touched by your vivid display of
emotion and remembrance. It was a ghastly thing to be
witness to .. so many emotions race through the system
at once ... but the strongest was the helplessness I felt ...
[even to this day]
It's both disturbing and frightening how easy it is to
manipulate the willing human mind.
the weak, looking for an easy and quick reward
Excellent write, my friend. Thank you for this.

My friend, you have penned something here that is bigger than simple words. This is something I would expect to find on a monument so we would never forget that day.
I bow to your wisdom and talent
Roses and a drink ( to cover all bases)
