The world falling down.

We are not dead, only distracted and proud; we are the world falling down.
The head pounds; the teeth rot; the eyes blur, we are the world falling down.
We are the world- we are dried feces in the sun - and we are sodden cursing sad, ashamed of ourselves naked in the mirror.
We scoff at, and laugh at news of the war. We are afraid of knowing how many have died.
We are the world; a curled circumstance scoffed at by the mouths of men.
We are the world, a foliated anger scarring the stars with our presence.
Every day there is a new reason for pain. Every day there is a new reason to be ashamed, to look away.
We are the world, and we are within the world.
We are the reasons for change.
We are the reason nothing changes.
There are old men and young men, a child in the storm; a bloodbath, a strange shadow scattering its form over the open eye, the old men sit and watch the young men die.
For what are we proud?
For what reason do we send our brothers off to die; for a paycheck; what freedom is there that is left to defend?
We are the world; the sun and moon denied; we are the world falling down; the desert, the flies, we are distracted and proud. We are the world falling down.
How is it that I feel no connection with a war that is in my house, on my street, in my stores, in my newspapers?
How is it that I am unmoved at a soldier’s death, but am sick at the death of my dog?
I am the world falling down.
I am the old man and the young man, the child and the storm; I am not dead, I am the world falling down.
Let us now, will to stand.
Let us now, will to speak or sing.
Let us now, will our love be seen.
We are not dead, only distracted and proud;
We are the world falling down.
May our brothers, our friends, our sons and daughters, rise up, and see what we are, and know that we fall, and from us, find the strength to stand.

Well, it's a shame that this went under the radar, it seems. This is a powerful piece, and very well constructed. The repetition and variation works very well, and overall this is a very full piece, strong and substantial, without being at all overdone (a hard one to shoot for sometimes). Well done.
