The Big Questions

Contributed by spike on Friday, 8th September 2006 @ 08:38:29 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

I can’t tell you why
I say the things I do,
I won’t try to explain
My feelings when near you
I could venture a guess,
At impulse or design
Why some hearts are just a mess,
And others beat so fine

I wouldn’t dare discount
Celestial circumstance, or
Divine intervention
-Even pure happenstance
I just can’t make sense of it,
Though I’ve tasted it first hand
Why does a boy fall for a girl
While another he can’t stand?

How can two lives intersect
When others never gel,
Or some moments feel like heaven
And others just like hell?
Until you find love’s secrets
On some dusty, forgotten shelf,
I can’t explain these things to you
Because I don’t know why myself.

Some mighty deep thinkin' here, Spike. I imagined playing the part of a Daddy with his teenage little darlin' cryin' on his shoulder and me speakin' this helpless wisdom to her. Thought provokin' seems to dominate the comments here. Know why? It is.

S~

What a question for the ages!! I love the way your wrote
this. It's filled with many musings we have all pondered ..

I, for one, do not think there are any easy answers, my
friend. Chemistry? I didn't get it in school and I get it even
less now. Love's secrets are heavily guarded, I fear,
contrary to what Dr. Phil followers believe. lol

Trial and error, my friend. That's all I have to offer. I can
assure you, when it finally DOES work ... it's heaven.

Love the flow here, spike.

Oh, what irony that I have come here this day....

Not but a few hours ago, in rambling conversation with Roxie, I uttered something about love being a magical sort of secret - one, that could never be told (there simply aren't words enough). The entirety of it, I'm convinced, must come to us each on its own. The questions are not so much answered as mooted, I believe, by a knowing that is at once conclusive and mystical. It has been my experience that when one finds true love, a single insistent thought remains....

This is love and to deny as much would be futile.

Without hesitation,
~Snem
