There was a young pigeon, it’s true,
Who fancied himself as a stew.
So he jumped in a pot
‘Til it became hot
But nobody would touch it due
To the feathers and beak and countless pigeon diseaes
Floating in the gravy.

Hi faiton,
Start out as a limerick with a slightly wrong metrum but a nice touch.
Then you definitely break it up with the long sentence. Surprising and a makes one wonder what's coming but, apart from the disappointing form, the clou isn't that surprising.
A better Limerick would have been better, funnier; the story's good, though.
Greetz,
roberto

Ridiculously funny. I felt gut-stirring nausea as well as the ribs being tickled.
I know there's a name for this style of poetry,
dear to the heart of you and me
but I can't well remember
perhaps by December
or when the stem finally cells kick in.
