A Childs Eyes

Contributed by lillyjane on Friday, 8th September 2006 @ 10:13:11 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

When I was a child,I was so nieve,
in the human race, I truly believed,
I thought the streets were paved in gold,
didn't know I could die, or grow old,

I believed every thing everyone said,
innocence prevailed inside my head,
as I grew up, it became clear to see,
I was not living, in reality,

Why did some people, cause others pain,
what did it achieve, what did they gain,
people broke promises, people lied,
felt no remorse, when their victims cried,

I didn't want to be worldly wise,
I wanted to see, through a childs eyes,
then I learnt good, counterbalance's bad,
this thought stopped me feeling sad,

So now I tend to live my life,
avoiding things that cause me strife,
what you give, you get back,
Iv'e tried really hard to practice that..

Thank you for putting a big smile on my face! I am still smiling as I write this. Lilly that was so well writen, and so true! I still try to look through my toddler eyes, I'm still just a kid, a big, kid. Why do people enjoy hurting others? That is the best question I've heard SOMEONE ELSE say in a long time. I've wondered about that for all my life....

Big Kudos!!

Excellent write, lilly. The last stanza is exceptional!!
and very telling of your kind and gentle heart. : )

The innocence of youth is so completely precious ..

Beautiful write, my friend.

A very good write. I think it's sad when my girls ask me why bad things happen because I know they're becoming wise to the world. I haven't got answers for them when they ask why people are starving to death and why there are people who murder oneanother but you're so right Lillyjane, you have to counterbalance the good over the bad. Well done, another masterpiece.

As much as we grow up and wise,
I love the world through the childs eyes.
It's safer and purer than all we seek,
It doesn't abuse the old or the meek.

Well done.
