Suicide

My blood boils beneath the sun
my skin darkens, defeated, giving into the transition.
The breeze carries my body across the water,
the only time I move with grace.
Sweat glides down my temple.
I watch it through the reflection of my sunglasses
roll down, fill the fine lines that deepen more
and more with time.
I slip into the water and watch the world at surface level.
Neighbors chat. A bird glides by. A dry wisp of hair caresses my face before I
exhale everything,
that keeps me above the surface,
exhale everything,
and SINK.
