In the sinking sun
In the sinking sun
Was on the run
Poverty was the gun
At last he was in
Falling rain
In pain
No bread
No butter to spread
Spreading sweat on his body
All over him
Dampness kicked in
The first face everyday
The jailor
Jailor angry but still poor
At home on the side
Sold manure
And his culture
Culture his belonging
Lonely star
Never got to shine
Thought belonged in the sky
Dropped one day like a fly
Fly why fly
Don’t try
All that will happen
Is thump to the ground? Now let’s cry
Cry is all you can do for me
Mum is dead
Aids took her
When I come out
You will be too
Short life will lapse
Before maturity
Mummy was pregnant when she had it.
