Secrets and Lies

Topic: DarkPoetry

Once upon a midnight heaven, beneath an insipid sky
A single light flickered gently, gently in the quiet night
A house hidden by shrouded tree’s, stood abandoned and alone
With only two lonely shadows, confirming a status quo
Bathed in sickly fluorescent light, unforgiving like the night
Sitting together contrary, they whispered behind four walls
Secrets and lies, but nothing more

His face was torn up creased paper, lit only by a candle
His hair a bed of settled snow, resting upon his aged head
His eyes two ancient burning stars, so close to fading away
His smile indescript and gentle, embossed within his creased face
Created a quiet solace, for his unseen timid friend
As the discussion continued, with time that was kindly lent
Secrets and lies, but nothing more

He was begging for forgiveness, for his act of malevolence
His friend simply grinned unmoving, as if he just didn’t care
Frustration drew across his brow, but he suppressed bleeding rage
The conversation had lasted, lasted for long, long time
Guilt kept it for eternity, forever; never complete
He knew in his heart he can’t win, he would try to save himself
Secrets and lies, but nothing more

The old man dipped the spoon in soup, green and unappetising
Slowly he lifted the spoon up, it rested on his friend’s lips
The elderly man’s smile diminished, his friend refused to consume
The meal he slaved on for hours, with his own blood sweat and tears
The ingratitude stung him so, a snake bite piercing his skin
Anger boiled behind his blue eyes, his veins popped out of his neck
Secrets and lies, but nothing more

With rage he flung the bowl of soup, aiming straight for his friend’s head
The bowl struck with power and force, knocking the skull to the floor
The wide grin continued to stay, the sunken sockets smiling
The rest of the skeleton bowed, shattering onto the floor
The old man looked on in pure shock, his friend wholly dismantled
The first argument in ten years, since he murdered his old friend
He picked up the gun, while grinning
Secrets and lies, but nothing more
Nothing more.
