Shackled to life; held captive by death,
Aware of the end each step I progress,
Caught in the glare of those misty-morning eyes,
Like the spider, ever spinning, my tangled web of lies,
Kissing lips a long time dead, from a half-forgotten dream,
Letting out a silent moan, then suddenly; a scream,
Smoky wisps of air pushed forth from my lungs,
The soldiers are marching onwards; loading their guns,
They shot you in the heart, I say; they were aiming for me,
But those bullets pierced my soul, the target they couldn’t see,
I feel your fingers reach for mine, clammy in my hand,
I hear your voice screech at me, you should try to understand,
I do, I did, I always will; of course,
Flowers in the graveyard; atop of love’s rotting corpse.

A truly visionary piece, Quite dark, and mysterious and soulfully sad. A masterpiece in its own right. Enjoyed it very much. Sue x |
