Coolest Girl In School

Contributed by RockinRose on Wednesday, 12th February 2003 @ 11:40:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

She was the coolest girl in school.
She always wore dark, baggy jeans
with a dark red shirt
it made her look tough
and cool at the same time.
Her group
of friends
smoked
under the bleachers
at lunch.
She shoplifted
From the biggest companies
without getting caught.
Her parents
were never seen
She never
talked about them,
no one
knew who they were.
Everyday,
slits
could be seen
clearly on her skin.
No one
bothered
to find out why.
She was the coolest girl in school.
Everyone
looked up to her.
Everyday
she had
jokes to tell
and always a smile.
And everyday
she cried herself to sleep at night...

Wow, I loved this poem...its sad because the "cool" kids aren't expected to have problems. I know what it feels like to be admired by people, but I don't know why...I have low self esteem, my anorexia has taken over my life, and I cut myself...what a role model I am. Next time someone says they want my body, I just might have to snap on them...they don't know what I put myself through. Keep writing sweetie, I enjoy your work. Lots of Love, Fiona

I can relate to this. I'm a guy though. I cut myself and having no one to talk is the worst or maybe trying to hide my cuts one or the other.
