Sanctity and the Melancholy Twist

I have babbled on about the sanctity of life
as from heights once considered exotic
brought down now to the merely neurotic
while most evenings find me glassy-eyed
with every small tension now magnified
fending 'gainst scorn and lofty pain
all past delights gone sour and cloyed
ready at length to meet some new-found Freud
meanwhile, left alone to wince and contemplate
with bare brittle bones my new mental state
by which neither lovable clown nor nimble sage:
I'd sunk all too soon into some billowing rage.
No married union for better or worse
down the harried reckoning of all my verse
and the times I limp with grit and wrath
all by way of some treacherous path
of imaginary wrongs and ghostly indignation
with notions measurably beyond my weary station
which far from having you proud or elated
have had you gradually quite and utterly sedated.
Surely in your eyes there sometimes hovers
shades of past innumerable lovers
who would grovel for your merest touch
and would find themselves blest if you as much
as brushed their furrowed brows with your lips
sending them spinning into total eclipse
obedient to your every beck and call
cast aside desolate and discarded
inconsolable and broken-hearted
floundering in your starry wake
all for my insignificant sake.
And this, the final melancholy twist
beyond cure by my faith or psychiatrist:
hellfire in my breast wihich continues to blaze
as my life story twines down all your forgiving days.

Melancholy twist, no sir, magical myriad of words , yes. Sad and bittersweet, but it is amassed with feeling and emotion. Loved it. Sue x |

Oh, my sweet and gentle poet~
This one brought me to my knees ..
And though it did effect a tear (or several), I feel I have to disagree with
jersey here .. (sorry Sue..). I didn’t find it sad at all. I see an enormous
amount of bravery here .. I see an awareness .. I see a wisdom .. I see ....
growth
Throughout your many writes you travel through a stream of emotion, valiantly
penning all that your heart bleeds. Sweetest .. admiration lies undefined.
beyond question!
I am overcome by how human this is. How human ALL of your work is. I feel
it down to the core, hun. It never ceases to amaze me, how you fail to see in the
mirror, all the wonder, grace and immeasurable worth, I see whenever I look at
you. Any one who comes into your life must know that. They need only spend one
moment with you to recognize the value and charity you enrich their lives with.
Some things, dearest, cannot be explained .. I think love falls atop that list ..
affectionately and with much adoration,
always~
