I’m going to leave the art on the wall
Leave the flowers where they belong
Let those photos by your pillow be
And walk out like I was once strong.
But don’t you ever let another woman
Throw those things away
Don’t you ever let another woman
Tell you I didn’t love you the right way.
I once gave you peace and harmony
Don’t you forget
I gave you something to dream about
Don’t be mistaken, those dreams can still be dreamt.
So don’t let someone take
All I offered you
Let that poetry stay fresh in your mind
Remember the love I showed was true.
Every smile has been long forgotten
through misery and frown
And yes, our ups have been replaced
by low, low, downs
But as I walk out of this door,
You watch those downs follow my steps
Love will find you once again
And ours will rest.
Forgiveness needs no voice
Its presence lies in my soul
Don’t you ever say you hated us
Because hate you cannot hold.
