I saw you today,
You had a smile on your face
She had her arm around you
In a tender embrace.
I’m truly happy for you
I hope now that you see
I really do believe in love
It just wasn’t meant for you and me.
You showed me a life,
One day I hope to live
For everything you gave me
One day I will give.
Relationships can be confusing
Hearts can be broken
Lucky for us
No words were left unspoken.
Behind the tears and the confusion
We both saw a truth
For we were different people
In different stages of our youth.
Although our paths have split
What you taught me I will never forget
To be careful of the heart
Because you never know who you can upset.
It is you I must thank
For showing me what it is to be loved
I’m sorry for hurting you
My hand just didn’t fit in your glove
So good luck with your new beginnings
And Sayonara for now
But this is not the end
I’m sure our paths will meet again somehow.

I like this, if only most relationships could end like this and not in recriminations. Well written and a nice story with it. |
