Inside Looking Out

I sit alone in this confinement
A creature to be poked and feared
Watching and wishing to be free,
With others like me, but no such luck.
Watered with tears, I've grown so much.
My spiny exterior keeps all at bay
Will no one break my casing to my beauty inside?
All around laughter and giggles abound
But I cannot join in the their happiness
The world glances at me and says "how pretty",
Does not a single one watn to examine,
See the pain burried within the deceptive looks?
I reach my hands to the sky and feel
God's own tears, yet I know they're not for me,
A lowly creature mocked and prodded.
Not a tear in the world or a prayer in all the hearts
Is for me, not even my own.
Just once, can't a single tear be shed for me?
Can't I be one of God's own, accepted and loved?
Does anyone in the world care about what's inside?
