Everything That I Hate

Contributed by Gayla on Friday, 25th August 2006 @ 02:26:11 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Please don't hate me, it's not my fault
If I could choose, I wouldn't be alive at all
For 3 years, I was so alone, surrounded by homophobes
Now I'm here, losing a friend because of my sexuality
Losing a great friend because of my personality
Left alone, AGAIN, to deal with my reality

Have you ever been everything that you hate?
Everyday I look in the mirror and remember that I'm gay.
Have you ever just wanted to ***** die?
Every morning I lay in my bed and acknowledge my insides

Everyday I got evil stares in the hallway
Everyday, same routine, I knew it wouldn't stay
If it did, I would surely die.
My friends are what kept me alive

Have you ever been everything that you hate?
Everyday I look in the mirror and remember that I'm gay.
Have you ever just wanted to ***** die?
Every morning I lay in my bed and acknowledge my insides

I'm so grateful for every friend I make
every "I love you" is a bit of confidence I take
I take it to try to build myself up
In 3 years I have learned so much
I've learned more on how to survive then succeed
Now I know how to react whenever I bleed
and now I know the things I truly need
I need to just be happy and feel alive
Live life to the fullest before I die
Next time, I won't let ignorant kids take away my pride.

i'm agreeing with emystar here, never be ashamed! i have a number of friends who are gay/lesbian/bisexual and in the words of them, anyone who judges you for being who you are does not deserve your friendship! I'm glad your friend shown that he was worthy of yours, and stood by you, great post!

The world is changing and, here in the uk in particular, no one really cares about gay or straight-probably cos a lot of gay people are so much cooler than templated homophobes. All my gay friends are ace and you are too-and proud too! Great piece.x
