It's been a battle since the beginning
Fought with some of our closest friends
Tidal waves of assumptions swamped us
Leaving us without a chance for ammends

I needed you to stand up for us
To tell them you didn't care
But they kept pushing us around
Except... you weren't really there

I've tried so hard to be understanding
To all your confusion and doubt
To give you the space you needed
And the time to figure yourself out

I've never hidden how I feel for you
You know exactly where I stand
But you're not sure you wanna make this work
...Are you afraid to take my hand?

And now I know I'm losing you
I can feel you slipping away
With every breath, I cling to this
But you're gone in the words you say

it's sad...but that's what makes poetry beautifull...the power to affect the reader...i love it
