_______________________________
I cursed my heart
For skipping a beat
When your name flashed on the screen
I really shouldn’t…
Oh but I did.
And I hated that my pulse quickened
When your voice slid through my ears
Husky and melodramatic.
Who ever though that a word like ‘hello’
Could make me feel so warm.
And I denied that it was butterflies
That flittered through my tummy
When you spoke.
I swear that I wasn’t thinking
About your incredibly gorgeous eyes.
And it was a sigh of relief
that escaped from my lips
when you hung up.
I was not disappointed.
I was not.

Yeah, sure kei. Yeah. That's one of the finest and cutest "read between these here lines" poems that I've read in many a day. Very imaginitive ... and real ... and I'm still smiling as I close ... beautifully done!

From the title, through the piece until it's sharp, tear tinged conclusion this is a sweet piece of work. me, I'm rubbish at hiding it but know that lots of folks aren't. ACE! |

excellent piece on feigned emotion, kei! It reminded me of a song
by Simon and Garfunkel, (not the sentiment, of course, just the style).
"I Am a Rock" ...
In high school, our English teacher used it in the "poetry portion" of our
curriculum. I was surprised to see how many did not get the pretense
of emotion in it.
This was clever and completely relatable.
Enjoyable read, as are all of your writes.

I can totally relate to this poem as I have friends going through this same stage. Very nicely done, and I don't think I could have done better. |
