Long after days and seasons and people,
the banner of raw time is recovered
from the old fanfare of heroism..
which attack still my heart and head,
far from employment and eternal bliss-
And so finances are remiss.. giving back to me
things and times that don't exist.
Embers rain in gusty frost,
that which has been so fitfully lost
in the off-season.. never have I needed
anymore reason to find a way to meet cost-
Long before into the summer's dawn, life brought prosperity
with mist and noise - my corner of the world;
floats covered with bills and coins:
Horizon's Edge sails, full and unfurlled-
heading out to a better place of time and will
some Bank on a Stellwagen wave..
where life in season, is of a better time and better way.

Oh snowbird return
let the money burn
holes in my pockets!
Oh snowbird leave
'n' let me grieve
m' next dinner.
I used to live in Phoenix, Arizona (110-120 SUMMER HOT!) had a carpet cleaning business and many to almost a majority of my customers were "snowbirds."
"Off season" summer woe was tubin' down the Salt River on a semi truck tire inner tube with friends, sippin' beer" Such woe!
I personally related to this write. Smiled when I read it.

Dearest poet ~ let me first say I find the Dickens quote
exceedingly pertinent! Aren't all things in life, (the most
enjoyable ones) both such things? We are never satisfied,
as humans, are we? .. where there is good, there is bad .. up
there is down .. pro there is con .. it's just the nature of things,
I guess. And I know how badly desire plays a part in our .. uhm ..
need for the best of times .. (not to worry)
A most astucious and enticing illustration of this complex
condition, hun. You mentioned diversity? Yours, my dear,
is exemplary!! And I am ever humbled ..
exceptional piece

"Embers rain in gusty frost"-I really like that line. Nice beat, which moves seamlessly through the strophes, thanks

Incredible Billy.
You write on such a variety of subjects all perfectly. This is so true to life and experience of the plenty and the famine.
Great job once again!

Embers rain in gusty frost is a good line that could stand on its own. Strong work with images and other things. |

After all this time… all we know is that things are good and bad… usually a little of both.
This was a good expression of that simple thought.
Nice as always
