To Be A Poet

Contributed by lillyjane on Tuesday, 22nd August 2006 @ 08:29:28 AM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

When im sad or happy, I follow my pen.
releasing all feelings of joy and pain,
poetry really makes you feel so whole,
rejuvenating and cleansing your soul,

sometimes, its not a work of art,
sometimes, I dont know where to start,
the feelings I feel, are what matters,
as over the page's my words are scattered,

so take advice from one who knows it,
pick up your pen, become a poet,
you will find the words just flow,
till you try, you will never know.

I agree with you on this. We all have words in us, just need imagination to make it flow.

Working with children I use my and other's poetry to inpire them to use their imagination and write poetry. With your permission, I would like to make a copy of this to use with them. This is mighty in its simplicity, and ever so true in the big picture! I love the challenge in the ending. Wonderful work.

Poetry is everywhere whether or not we realize it - in advertisements, gossip columns, restaurant menus and other unlikely places-
it brings with it, an inherent and inescapable attraction that is otherwise (as poetry) overlooked.

Great post!

The title for this is excellent, lilly. :)

Ah yes .. I am SO happy to see you include the emotion in the
first line of Stanza one.. The stirring of emotion is ultimately
what guides our pen, and we, as poets, are emphatically driven
by that, methinks. : )

Perfect musing of a lovely concept.

Very good write. The greatest poets had their 'blue period' and some of their best work was created during this time. I believe emotions are the root of all poetry and you have written another great masterpiece Lilyjane, summing it up with such flow!
