Mcpoem.... Mcslavery

Here I am getting ready for another day
Another day at work
Work is like a day out in a pointless war.

No matter what you do no one gives you a pat on the back
As the hierarchy goes up.
The worse the attitude gets.

Clocked in for a pathetic four pound an hour wage.
YOU’RE FIVE MINUTES LATE!
Bawls the floor manager who looks like a wounded general.
Barney the Dinosaur, without the Smile
Is back on his game
I just ignore him like he doesn’t exist
As they say silence is golden

I wash my hands and step up into the war zone.
The spatula is my weapon; I hold it like an assault rifle
The heat is on because the grills are open.

Shout comes through
FOUR MACS, EIGHT REGULARS AND FOUR QUARTERS!
My first mission
AYE AYE GENERAL!

I look around to find someone to help me out
They’ve all clocked out
It’s the sinking feeling; I am going to have a tough day.
I wonder if the curry in my Tiffin is still warm

Half way through the Macs manager calls out ‘Lets get it sorted ye!’
Thought comes to mind
All this work and no play will make me dull one day.

I shout out to the front that the food is ready.
I struggle to the UHC, the tray is heavy.
At the end of fifteen minutes its destination is the Red bin
Just like most of us.

SO MUCH FOR LETS GET IT SORTED!

Why can’t we imagine a Big Mac with a curry?
At the end of the meal we can both have a Mcflurry.
I am sure we will work something out
I assure you. Really you have nothing to worry.

I enjoyed this poem a lot. Says a fair bit else than working for the anonymous man. Chris
