I Had You

I open these eyes...
I see your face.
I am but a man, no hope... no future.
I seek shelter when it rains,
Avoid fear, steer from pains,
Seek not antagony, injustice, nor torture.
I have only these hands...
they know you well.
I have but one heart, shared for all... carved to be yours.
Each beat your name, each pulse your breath.
Each strain your kiss; oceans of froth and crests.
A jungle alive; jungles turned moors.
I had hope...
I had you.
Not enough fire has left me cold... icy in passion.
And under waterfalls I sit, pensive of the past.
Lowered in my place, demoted in my caste.
Fallen as angels, Lord's love no longer my cushion.
Haunt me, as you do... each night the ghosts return.
I can only shiver under their stare.
Shiver of the warmth, the love we shared.
Surrounded by death, surrounded by the memories,
Surrounded by the loss.
I mourn.
