We Need War

war

We need war; our world thrives on it,
We are good at aiming, firing, watching others get hit,
The boy of twelve who lied,
Is now dying by your side,
As he fades there are tears in his eyes,
And he wishes to God he’d never told those lies.
We package the dead in boxes;
Bury them under the ground,
And a silent tear is shed;
For those that were never found.
Those grieving Wives and Mothers,
Who’ve lost more than husbands and sons,
Await the day when the fight ends,
Wait the last shot from those guns.

Quite a few of my poems and songs are concerning the futility of war and as a fully qualified expert on the matter may I say this is poignant, sensitive and honest-a rolling stone gathers no dross... |
