My Children

Topic: FamilyPoems

Do you remember when you were small,
drawing match stick men on the wall
you gazed at it fascinated ,
when we had just decorated
brought you your school uniform
come home with the blazer torn,
it had cost us so much,
its ok mum just sew it up,
you jumped on the fresh made beds,
it ended in tears as you banged your heads,
when you should of been sleeping late at night,
you would start a pillow fight,
remember every christmas eve,
went to bed at twelve, awake at three,
chewing gum stuck in your hair,
dirty faces you didn't care,
home from school, scuffed shoes and knees
demanding chocolate cake for tea
your constant chatter drove us bonkers,
pinched dads shoe laces for your conkers,
rowed when we were in the car,
shouted are we there, is it far,,
when you were fast asleep,
in your room I would creep,
my heart for you was filled with love,
you looked like angels from above,
you grew so fast,,
had laughter, tears and pain,
I would do it all again,
im so proud of you now you have grown,
this always will be your home...

Memories are good, and yes children grow up so fast. I only have one child, who is as expensive to keep as 6. I will really miss her if she goes to University. Mind you at present half her friends reside most of the day here, so I think I have a big extended family. Lovely poem my friend, I can see your proud of them. Sue x
