Assumed Guilt

Libra weighs the balances
Of deed versus effect
While pros and cons wage battle
Debate recent deficit
A judge then granting recess
To his chambers will retreat
Leave to the jury’s ponderment
If subject is complete
There seem some missing pieces
Inconclusive evidence
The man who stands on trial
Speaks now in his own defense …
“Sometimes some things happen
Circumstance beyond control
Often times with reasons that
We seem not meant to know
If I should be convicted
Or accountable, be held
For destiny, or chance, or fate
Then look upon yourselves
For each of you have acted now
In ways you can’t deny
For every act you can’t explain
You’d be as guilty then … as I”

Exceptional dearest nazzy!!
A perfectly penned thought, with much wisdom
and fortitude here. And, I would have to agree
wholeheartedly with the last two stanzas.
let he who is without sin and all that ..
The flow was impeccable, as always.

Naz,
You speak to a very worthy topic. I wrote one of my newspaper articles on being judgemental. Perhaps an attitude of guilty until proven innocent. Or the words spoken...."Let he who is without sin cast the first stone...." While, as you point out, we are all guilty of being judgemental at times. However, there are those who continually judge or blame others.
Very well done, my friend. Very creative format
