Everyday I awake in fear of losing my life,
I'm stationed two miles from the men trained to kill me,
You don't know fear, until you can look your enemy eye to eye,
I see their flag blowing in the wind, it sends chills down my spine,
It's like I'm in the land of the lost, seclueded, and cold,
The morning breeze, cuts like a knife,
The sun breaks, and I'm left to contemplate,
Is today my last, I make my peace with God,
But yet I live, but walk a thin line,
I'm always looking over my shoulder, is someone following me,
It's like walking on egg shells, trying not to break them,
The stess is high, but the treat of war is higher,
I look to the hills, the tombstones cry,
A land torn apart by war, and I'm between them trying to make peace,
A land so flush with beauty, but stained with blood,
I feel like a living corpse, soul searching and lost,
The fog hangs low, as it sleep atop the hills,
I feel cold, like death is standing next to me,
Here on the front line, I stand alone,
The DMZ Camp Greaves Korea.
Forever Faithful

Dear sir,
Your poem is so moving, and your skill so well-honed that if you lived 500, 1,000 or even 2,000 years back and spoke the right language I'm sure you'll never be out of place. It's rare that we find warrior-bards such as yourself.
May the Gods of Heaven be your keeper and Honour guide your step.
P/s: what is your rank in the army? |

Dear Phantom, I am a new fan of yours,... just read Korea. I have imagined it would be the way you described it. Praise God for this gift He has given to you and the opportunity that He has given to you to share it with us. Its so nice to know you through your poems. I look forward to the time when I can read more of them. Love to you and yours, Great-grandma Bizzy |

i must reiterate others sentiments on your writing and your braveness... i am a veteran myself... although the only war i fought was natural... the earthquakes... please be safe and know that we all want all of our soldiers home, safe sound and able to write more eloquent prose... like this one... blessings... |
