Memories of paler places
All the people's names and faces
Fade
Fade away
Into your guitar strings

Their words that cut into your skin
Before the music would begin
Fade
Fade away
Into your guitar strings

And the instrument is an extended part of you
In your sophisticated point of view
Everything else disintegrates
Fades away

The time your money seems to spend
Knowledge of a dawning end
Fade
Fade away
Into your guitar strings

Memories of dreams and tears
Intertwining hopes and fears
Fade
Fade away
Into your guitar strings

And the instrument is an extended part of you
In your sophisticated point of view
Everything else disintegrates
Fades away

You fingers dance a melody
As whispers of your memory
Fade

Into your guitar strings

The audiance shall hear no wrong
You pour your heart into the song
As you fade
