God Gave Me A Match

Contributed by gurlytye on Wednesday, 2nd August 2006 @ 03:25:36 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

As the sun sets
My heart crumbles
Breath becomes shallow
And I slip into darkness

Somewhere in this crevasse
Depression claws at my soul
My heart screams in agony
As pain engulfs me

Where is my savior?
The light of true love extinguished
I am reaching out blindly
Looking for some form of comfort

I pray for forgiveness
A lifeline to pull me out
Searching for phoenix wings
To rise from the ashes of regret

I cling to memories
Of smiles and laughter
Your hands upon my face
A tingle of anticipation

The butterflies within me
That once lifted me to the stars
Have fallen and withered
Leaving me with little hope

God gave me a match
Now I beseech thee
Please, light my way back
Into the arms of the one I love.

There was something about this...I really liked how you put it together, the ideas you presented, and your ending. It was an enjoyable read, nice work.

Tye,

I don't know what to say about this one ....
It pulled relentlessly at my heart strings, as tears welled up in my eyes all I wanted to do was reach out and hold you, to comfort you in all the ways only a mother can do.

All I can say is have faith ... things will work out the way they should all in good time.

As for the poem itself ... the growth in your writting is truly amazing to me ... keep on writting my dear.

Love and Hugs

~Mom

Sweety, I enjoyed the opportunity to work slightly on this with you and that you accepted some of my suggestions. You did wonderfully on this one and show such incredible growth. I can only imagine what you may accomplish in the future. I still think the ending, with it's multiplicity is as fabulous as anything I've read here.

I Love you, T

Papa Nazzy ~

I would agree, the ending is brilliant.
Actually, I loved the honesty and emotions of the whole peice.

Oh my ... sweetie, there is such a tortured sadness about this.
A painful beauty abounds within the lines ..

this stanza ..

"I pray for forgiveness
A lifeline to pull me out
Searching for phoenix wings
To rise from the ashes of regret"

Oh gosh .. it's just perfect. How I adore it. I relate to that
well .. you have managed to manifest an emotion here
that is very akin to the masses, I would say.

I hope things get better for you, hun.

*hugs*

~Breezy
