Incomplete

Contributed by Nazmythian on Tuesday, 1st August 2006 @ 06:28:50 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I could easily fall towards darkness
Slip silently into despair
I doubt anyone would blame me
But I refuse to go down there

Now I don’t have all the answers
And I don’t even know the plan
I just know it’s what’s inside of me
That makes me who I am

Indeed, maybe some parts are missing
But they may have yet to be found
Just know the picture isn’t perfect
Till that last puzzle piece lays down

Sometimes you may think less of me
For those things you might have seen
Some surface imperfection
Or some flaw you might perceive

Am I’m a shadow of what might have been
Within the dreams you held for me
I am no lame horse put to pasture
Not just another mouth to feed

So please, don’t dote upon me pity
Don’t think any less of me

For I refuse to see myself

As incomplete

Scotty .. I can't even imagine what you must have gone
through this past month and my heart is anguished
that you've not only had to fight a physical battle, but
a mental one as well. Sometimes I fear, the mental
battle is that much harder, because people don't
actually see the struggle, most times.

Your writing has not suffered, though I see. Incredible
piece, scotty. Truly remarkable.

This came off as inspired. It read like something written with strong will and identity, and it added something extra to this piece. Ignoring the rhyme scheme and excellent flow, it was just really well-written for all the less technical reasons. Great write.

Ok you done went and made me cry darnit!
This is beautiful my friend and I said it before, I admire your strength through and through. Its the hard battle to fight when our mind begins to fight the physical battles also.
Your never incomplete in my eyes my friend I admire you all the more.

You are quite the man and quite the poet. This poem proves that.

Naz,

This was an emotional read for me, knowing what you have been through, but pity was not the focus. Rather it was empathy and admiration that I felt. And I am not surprised that you are coping well considering your strength of character and faith.

Well done my friend
I'm proud to be your friend

Will/Terry

Hiya Naz. Nicely done. The second stanza reverbs strongly with me right now. Funny how we contruct ourselves-inside and out, and equally bizarre how we see others. There's a lot of primal impulses tied up with symmetry, vitality and completeness - survivability, procreation, protection, self esteem, identification. We need it less with our technological adapations, but these traits still show through in self image, fashion etc. Just remember -we are great adapters.
