The Reason Why

Contributed by Mangos on Monday, 31st July 2006 @ 05:58:00 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

In the event all is explained
Disregard the following:

There was no response
We called her name for hours
Hoped she would peak in from her descent
Nothing came with our faded shouts
Attempts to bring her back
Long gone
Into the dark

So we continued along
On no one path
Towards no single destination
Traveling at varied speeds
To no precise location
With minds at ease
Tales of the trees
Kept our imagination wandering
Singing songs in hushed melodies
Eyes peering
In all directions
Aware of our surrounding
Yet never sure
If we’ve strayed
Or remained
On a straight
Line to negate
Barriers to negotiate
Yesterdays advancement
With the next hours decline
We don’t wait

Subtle hints were dropped
They missed not a spot
Not a hiss was forgot
Near the wishing fountain
It rots, with eroded bedrock
As they fall from the boy’s hand at the top
Collects dirty pennies
Makes disgruntled enemies
Distinguished penalties
It stops
To spin the clock
Knuckles clench
For the perfect knock
The door shakes
The walls echo mistakes
A flimsy chain
Keeps the out from in
A stranger who boasts and brims
With confidence
The punishing grim
Purging sin
Reality sets in
Tolerance for needles and pins
Prodding the skin
Sodomized within
And so it begins
Again and again
