Thunder in the Mainstream

Contributed by olhip on Tuesday, 11th February 2003 @ 12:40:00 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

The leaders of tommorrow we mold in our todays.
In a world of violence and hunger we shape their very ways.
Abuse it could be next door, close your eyes don't lend a hand
Their's street gangs on your corner, weapons in demand.

Newborns faced with habits, their forced to face today.
Warheads in your backyard, more that face your way.
Love could now be deadly, politics in disaray.
Loan sharks in the highlife, the poor man pays their way.

Tomorrow could be brighter, should man decide to try.
Instead of just another day, where he made the children cry.
Holes found in the ozone,an end to our blue skies?
Chemicals run in the waters as our rivers die.

Degrade and demoralize the homeless, show know sympathy.
For what becomes of their lives, was soley meant to be.
Lives end with now beginning, they never had a chance.
Religion banned from school rooms, take a second glance.

Their's oil on the beaches, the forests grow extinct.
Farmers lose their homelands, concrete's far from extinct.
Education takes a backseat in congressional policy.
While workers lose their places,in a cutback society.

God was gracious and tried twice at giving man a chance.
Perhaps he's learning we can't succeed,if we mearly freelance.
Schoolzones become warzones, the children take the blame.
Perhaps the entertainers, should hang their heads in shame.

What seems a one way road to nowhere, has many other paths.
Where we lead the children, the lesson shall allways last.
There's thunder in the mainstream, hells fire from below.
Shall we build a brighter world,in which the children can grow?

that's a lot to think about, and I agree. I just hope there's enough to support the cause.

Cant see why this poem is in the least read column, it should be read more, I guess everyone is to scared to commit to the truth of things.
This poem I thought was one of the best I have read, and I even voted to give it rating of 5, keep up the writting you are very good at it.
