OTHER SENSES

Contributed by lillyjane on Sunday, 30th July 2006 @ 03:58:46 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

She slowly, cut the roses, to place them in her room,
she hears the bea's humming on their flight from bloom to bloom,
the fragrance in the air, gently floats upon the breeze,
as she cuts the stems, feels the earth upon her knees,

her heart is filled with gladness, at the wonders of the world,
memories of its beauty, in her heart shes held,
the birds singing, make her eyes sting with tears,
all of natures sounds are music to her ears,

every day to her is as dark as night,
as a little child she had lost her sight,
she felt her life was good, life to her was kind,
she felt no bitterness, that she had gone blind,

she still had her hearing, feeling, the flowers she could smell,
her memories of what she saw as a little girl,
people say shes brave, not feeling bitter was so odd,
she knew different though, for what she had she still thanked God.

This is so lovely. The lack of sight, does not take away the beauty surrounding us. This is a very touching, heartwarming write. I applaud you. It is inspirational also, it shows us there are ways to overcome adversity. Sue xx

Wow, this is a really lovely poem Lilyjane, you describe her world so wonderfully, beautifully, it made me wish I was there. It's so descriptive, it's brilliant!

Oh lilly, this was exquisitely beautiful

you know.. as I read this piece, I could picture in my
mind, the colour of the roses, the bees buzzing by,
the birds flying aloft on a breeze .. though I could not
see them with my physical eyes..

Our memories are such a treasure and gift. Not just
of moments, but of things we seen, heard, touched,
or smelt. Your message is wonderful. And no one
knows truly, how we would cope when faced with such
a trying situation, until it happens. We get through it,
because we have to, you know? The alternative
is just not appealing ..

~Breezy
