LAUGH AT ME

Contributed by deadclown on Saturday, 29th July 2006 @ 04:22:45 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Standing alone in the circus ring
Watching the people all stare
They sit together all laughing at me
Nobody seems to care

This is the only life that I know
Dressing myself as a clown
Always I wear a smile on my face
When really it should be a frown

Running around and jumping about
Always I'm acting a fool
If I should take this smile of my face
Would they still treat me so cruel

They'll never see behind this disguise
All that I feel in my heart
The clown he is happy, while I am sad
Our world's are far apart

When the show's over and you have gone
back to your family and home
I will return to my dressing room
sitting there all alone

Only the mirror upon the wall
knows how my life is to be
The world is full of so many fools
The biggest of all is me

Yes I relate to this. I show a face to the world that is happy, but alone at home, I show my sadness. A clown mask is what many a comedian wears, and they are some of the saddest people off stage. Good write, and with a lot of meaning. Sue x

I like this idea, I have also struggled with my mask. I'm normally a cheerful person but sometimes it's just a painted smile so I don't have to talk about what's wrong. Your mom is an excellent writer.

Very well wriiten great read.

I used to vent it out in my earlier poetry which was always kept hidden.

Not any more I have many unconditional friends who except me for Who I am.

God Bless You for posting this. many will be able to relate.

That was really good and so heatfelt. I can relate a lot to this poem. We all wear masks when everyones watching but when they're not we all take it off and let our faces breathe. Nicely done.

The painted smile seems to be the only thing people see upon my face during these crule days.
Your mom is a very talented writer.

That poem seems to describe how I am at the moment, I am really impressed how your mum describes how being a clown is like how we go through life, Brilliant!!!
