I lost my love to a Bottle

Contributed by jerseysue on Saturday, 29th July 2006 @ 02:21:36 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

You were my special man,
The only one for me,
But you disappeared from my sight,
You lived far away you see,

But I moved to London,
Six years after you left me,
I found someone who knew you,
Thats when you came to see me,

You were still the man that I loved,
Well at least for three more dates,
Then you became so very strange,
I found out before it was to late,.

I knew you liked a drink my love,
But you drank it by the bottle,
You'd changed beyond belief ,
You were someone I could throttle,

Then one night in a local bar,
You acted stupid and became so lewd,
You treated me with no respect,
In fact you were so rude,

It was the drink talking once again,
So I slapped you across the face,
Told you to get a life,
I then walked out of that place,

That was the last time I saw you,
It still fills me with dread,
Did you get some help my dear,
Or did the drink kill you instead.

Ah yes, alcohol, the legal drug. I've seen it change some people from happy to monsters. Not a good thing.

Once again, though, you have taken on one of those "tough subjects" and have done it well.

This is a sad poem. Nicely written. It has got to be hard not knowing if someone you love ever got well or they are just dead now. Sorry to hear about this. I know it can't be easy.

*huge hug*

Take care,

Tim

So sad and I understand it perfectly. They not onlu abuse themselves but everyone around them. I'm so sorry that you went through all of this again but you posted a wonderful poem out of the sadness.

very true people that drink often don't realize the damage they do until they're sober, then the desire to drink comes back and just before they start drinking they apologize and say it won't happen again. I say this because I shared a 6 yr relationship with a man I thought I loved and he loved me. well he loved me until he started drinking heavily, he went from yelling at me, embarassing me to eventually hitting me, from him hitting me it then became an everyday thing. At first I was angry, but then I forgave him... then he did it again, I forgave him again and again and I never knew why? Then I finally realized that I was really affraid of him cause he use to beat the crap out of me and threaten me, so I got tired of his crap and fought back and then eventually I just left...
