come my angel to console

Contributed by True on Wednesday, 26th July 2006 @ 05:43:44 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

My sorrow is to great
my pain too much too bear
they all seem to pity my fate
please don't stop and stare

hold me now my angel
as my soul is torn in two
"your body was so mangled
I can't do this without you

we were to be married
on the twenty-fifth of June
but after work you tarried
I wondered if you'd be home soon

but then I got the phone call
a policeman was on the phone
I didn't understand at all
when he said you'd never be coming home

your windshield was shattered
your door had caved in
your body was beaten and battered
so they notified next of kin

so now I sit amongst glass and blood
stroking your matted hair
my tears come down in a raging flood
with this pain I cannot bear"

come my angel to console
and wrap me in your feathered wings
rekindle my flame from this ashen coal
and teach me the meaning of these things

I feel for you, very much indeed.
And very moving poem, must have been difficult to execute.

You know, they say that it's easier to come to terms with your own impending death, rather then that of a loved one, or lover! I think that there might be something to that.

Hang in there.

When I read the line "stroking your matted hair " I had an image of a women with blood soaking her hair against her forehead with her eyes closed being rocked back and forth. That was a powerful image and quite sad.
I felt the pain of this poem even though I've never had such an experience. take care , truly , doug
