Many sweet and thoughtless days
wandering 'neath that canopy
hardly a hint of honest light
in the cavernous shade of elm
no qualm nor quarrel had I
nor vision of calamity
immortal on God's lush canvas
all is well... all is well
Happily I tarried there
with all my vigor free to play
when 'pon that joyous air divine
there came a haunted wayward swell
no word nor senses had I
with which to fathom or convey
the wilting of that oasis
as it fell...as it fell
What wraith in my garden fair
with ghoulish hands of disarray
hath left the shadows sprawled and dead
with wayward spells and swells of ill
no strength nor magic had I
to salvage those immortal days
when the leaning aura uttered
die you shall...die you shall
Many fearful nights my mind
lay trapped beneath that canopy
hardly a hint of honest light
in the cavernous hades of elm
no longer need I question
where the ghostly intentions lay
I know now they shall summon me
into hell... into hell.

This read so nicely, and carried me along on the tails of the perfecctly spun words. I enjoyed it then the end hit me hard and gave me chills!

I liked this poem because it has a great storyteller vibe to it. |

I think I like this one better than the next one. But I like poetry that veers away from the norm. I especially like poems that tell stories. I'm not a very good story poetry writer but I like a lot of others. |
