She's Just A Girl

Her hips sway side to side
As if a dance was born into her curves,
Gracing the eyes of lustful on lookers.
Their lips open, spitting out words -
Trying to hustle their way into her pants.
“Baby.”
“Beautiful.”
“Sexy.”
She’s just a girl.
Him with his egotistical and fresh ways
Goes to grab her.
His skin slides smoothly over hers and his eyes drift heavily
Up and down her body.
She shivers.
His grip is strong, but
She pulls away and runs.
She’s just a girl.
Her feet pound the pavement,
Creating music of innocence
Sure to surrender soon.
She stops to catch her breath, and the music dies
Distastefully on the soiled sidewalk.
A car rolls up along side her and
A man about his fifties
Calls out to her.
His hair is thinning and his skin
Is full with creases of life’s hardships.
He wants her.
Desires her.
Is Willing to betray his wife and lie for her.
But She’s just a girl.
She uses words too old for her,
Cursing harshly at the man in the car,
A man old enough to be her father.
And so she begins the music once again.
Running towards something enigmatic and destructible.
She tries to steady herself once she reaches the door,
Her heart ready to let loose from the barriers that keep it.
She smiles as he opens the door and lets her inside the
Lonely house.
What does she know, right?
She’s just a girl.
His eyes burn into her and his lips taste
Of alcohol as they desperately delight in hers.
His hands grasp at her body young and new
and she feels she’s not ready.
She’s not ready.
She tells him and he scoffs,
His words drenched in alcohol dance in her ear
“If you really loved me you would give it up”
Confused she panics and reaches out for him.
He smiles and says
“That’s what I thought”.
The room begins to spin as she has to fight her way out
Of his hold.
“I’m not ready”, she says once more.
He wipes his mouth,
Spit glistens on his hand
As his words,
Rough and solid,
Break her heart.
“Then get the ***** out”.
She gets outside and the music starts for the last time.
She’s just a girl,
Forced to be a woman.

a deeply intense poem. And right on the money, becoming a woman is a emotional struggle. |

Wow, this is incredible. You've told a story, sadly of what it's like for young girls in our society today and how fast they have to grow up. A very well penned write detailing of the experiences young girls are forced to encounter. Well done and keep up the great work.
hugs n prayers,
