Exodus: A journey by a large group to escape from a hostile environment
Yes, we’ll go down to the water,
And draw it over our heads
We’ll go into the water,
As if into our beds
The land is now forsaken,
The laws are set to flight
Our children have been taken,
Our houses set alight
What is left there for us?
Our hearts are hollow shells
So we’ll go down to the water,
And sleep beneath the swell
Where’s our lord and saviour?
All day and night we prayed
But our prayers were tears in fire
As our future was betrayed
So we’ll go down to the water,
And rest in ocean’s deep
The tide will gently kiss us,
And draw us into sleep
Down into the darkness,
Where all our hardships cease
The pain and loss and sorrow,
Cleansed in sweet release.

Wow .. spike ..
Such pain .. such anguish .. a very sorrow-filled
write, my friend.
Stanza 4 is brilliant, especially line 3. How terribly and
painfully poetic.
We know not how lucky we are until tragedy strikes .. you know?
