Shadowy Unknown

Contributed by True on Friday, 21st July 2006 @ 11:48:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Doubt
Nothing is sure
My childhood is gone
Faded into shadows
My future looms
Shadowy and threatening
Don’t leave me Mommy!
Don’t leave me Daddy!
I’m not ready to grow up
Where’s Peter Pan when you need him
Future
Such a dark and sinister word
I’ve lived each day
But they flew away from me
A caged bird
Freed from entrapment
Have they no loyalty?
I loved them
Won’t they love me?
Return to me
Beloved days
That I might live thee again
And never go forth
Into the dark unknown

This is really good I loved how you added Peter Pan. Good luck with your new journies.

We always have that small child within us nomatter where we go or how old we get, let the child shine and life is alot of fun!!

Amen to that. Youth and its fresh and wild visage gets tainted far too quickly- hold on to at least some aspects of childhood in your head and heart.
I remember my own moment when that sense of loss of your parent's really hits you. It's like having the rug pulled from under you. Best of luck, and thanks for posting a poem that captured those feelings so well.

Perhaps this shadowy unknown is not so bad. Many times I've put my past upon a pedestal like some porcelain perfection yet those memories I loved faded in grace untill finally they were nothing but silence. It is better I think to go forth to search for that pleasant pressure of love even though it could very well shatter you. You have hoped for others to find their castle . I'm convinced that they would want the same for you. good luck out there , truly , doug

Well, it's almost three years later. How are you doing? Sorry, missed a lot of your stuff. Twas a bad time for me in summer of 06.

Anyways, I have found that if you hold onto part of that childhood and keep it as part of you... always... you know, the "inner child"... you'll be okay.
