Starry Night

Contributed by deadheadpoet on Friday, 21st July 2006 @ 09:48:54 AM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

I see stars
way above the cars
Laid out like diamonds
on a black velvet cloth
Rippling and swirling
melting rhythms of
endlessness
Crystal reflection
cosmical

Night air black
moist and tenacious
encircling every earthly
object it touches
with gentle behavior
in slumbrous flow

Mist rises
Condensation ensconces earth
Caught in grey smoke
puffing and billowing
House lights draped
like the
twinkling firefly shines
in a glass mason jar

Inspiration of the night
deeply fills my lungs
Dew and cellular structure
all becoming one
Web of geometrics
weaving in and out

of perfection

Laura,

I love the the way this poems flows, and the imagery is wonderful. I get a picture of sitting in a car on a bluff over looking the city. The white headlights and red tail lights form streaks of light. And it is as if these lights connect with the stars and endless dark skies. All the lights twinkle and flow and create a cosmic dance.

Beautiful write, my friend

Will

Hey Laura, those moments are magical under the stars, aren't they?. Especially with no other light to dull the constellations. Sent a wave of delicious recognition washing over me.

Holy moly, this was awesome. I could see it all in my mind's eye, you've got a real knack for imagery, I must say. Your choice of words was quite vivid, it made the whole thing give off such a nice...feeling. I didn't want to use the word 'aura' there, as I'm not sure it would have been the right word. I really enjoyed this, very impressive Laura!

"Written on a late night ride", eh? Well, then... I suppose all I need to do to tell you how well you conveyed the moment is confess that I'd have undoubtedly been inclined to pull that car over and lay back on the hood.... and spend the rest of the night right there staring at the incredible sky.

Well done!

Yes! A night scene with light stars and other sources of light. Mist. I like the topic and the execution of the poem is good.
