To Whiskers

Contributed by spencer on Wednesday, 19th July 2006 @ 03:27:08 PM in AEST
Topic: Tributes

I sit under our favourite patch of grass
Under our favourite tree alone now.

Your journey is over
Your life (complete or) come to a close

I was the first thing you saw when you come into this world
And the last thing you saw when you left.

You gave me fourteen years of pure and simple happiness,
We grew together from childhood to adulthood.

You always knew how to cheer me up
When things seemed like they couldn't get any worse.

You imprinted yourself on me and I imprinted myself on you.
You were more than a best friend to me, I would have sacrificed
Anything for you. To me you were the world.

I was with you when your journey came to a close, instead of
Crying I smiled and clapped my hands for you because your life
And all the happiness we shared deserved a round of applause
Not tears.

I buried you under our favourite patch of grass under
Our favourite tree

Nothing I do or say will ever justify what you were to me,
I loved you and you loved me.

I will never forget you whiskers.
Thank you for being you
