Never Had an Opportunity to Miss You

The disengagement has begun
The second phase of the arrangement has overcome
It has the potential to do severe harm
In the strength of the heart-
Is the repercussion

The love was shown
There to be took
With a nod of a head
A resounding “no” was shook
Now dead, instead, is the fantasy overlooked

A mistake was made
And now we all stare foolishly into space
Feet pace in circles of disgrace
A taste of her has gone to waste
The rest of her now takes its place
Amid the ambivalent thrill of a chase

The excitement has dried
The enticement has died
There is no need to try
No need to sit and wonder why
Plenty of time
To feel inside
The feelings never felt
Standing closely by my side
