Last Goodbye

Contributed by Kevin on Sunday, 16th July 2006 @ 12:47:06 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

From our first date, I knew you were the one
Lying at the beach, soaking in the sun
The moment my lips touched yours, I knew you were mine
Forever we’d walk together through the sands of time

The happiest I’ve been were times with you
Lying around, relaxing for a delicate few
You in my arms, your soul in my heart
Letting you go was always the hardest part

A love so pure, nothing I’ve ever felt
To God I thanked, before Him I knelt
For the blessing He had given me
This feeling I have waited for ever so patiently

But how quick life can change before your eyes
Slapped in the face by thy brutal lies...
When you’re the happiest, things go wrong
I should have seen it coming all along

I never saw it coming, I had no clue
My first thought was, “what did I do?”
I saw you with him, pressed against his chest
I didn’t know you would do this, I wouldn’t have guessed

I ran from the room, thoughts racing through my mind
Out in the world yet feeling so confined
Distant screams I can hear behind me
But I keep on running oh so feverishly

Trying to escape the images I saw
Going through bouts of withdraw
Confused beyond what my mind can comprehend
Feeling my heart will never mend

I’ve gone through hell, I’ve cried all my tears
I’ve questioned my life and all my fears
Yet you still haunt me in your own little way
From the dead of night till the dawn of day

You asked for forgiveness, which I cannot give
Your heinous actions are ones I cannot forgive
I debate all day what to do next
Never in my life have I felt so perplexed

With you not in my life, I just don’t care
Why did this happen...it’s just not fair
So here I sit, waiting to die
So sad, so lonely...this is our last goodbye
