Insanity

Insanity

Insanity is just a perspective
Behaviour & thoughts you don’t understand
Come take a walk through my insanity
Relax and take my hand

Some call it paranoia
But it’s a fear of being judged
Some call it manic episodes
But it’s just a need to do so much

The blackness of depression
When you cannot do a thing
Is the cerebral filing system
Having a spring clean

And when the filings done
The tasks are all made clear
The rush to get them completed
Labels me, manically queer

Crying for no reason
Or no reason that you see
A sight, a smell a word I heard
That just affected me

The empathy with another’s pain
Or the beauty in the sky
The memory of a missed loved one
A million reasons why, I cry, for I cry and I don’t know why,
But I,
Don’t know all the answers

Is sanity the surety of knowing you got it right?
Or is getting it wrong the insanity blight

If you’re following the rules, you must be ok
Whose rules? Your rules? Do they work anyway?

Effected by the bigger picture
Struggling to cope with the small
Seeing acts of the apparently sane
Hitting your head against a brick wall

The pace that life demands today
Means running, but I want to walk
Quality, quantity, needs & desires
Talk talk talk talk talk

Societal expectations
Are not the ones for you?
Created for the next generation
By the one before, who cannot see the world anew!

Not in my lifetime, I know it
But eventually I’m sure, my faith in mankind demands
That the rushing we’re doing today
Will calm down and we’ll see the bigger plan

Man cannot control the earth
Insane to think he can
Man cannot control time
You get only your allotted lifespan
Man takes nothing with him
He leaves it all behind
To end another’s life, because of a piece of land, that will one day be sand, or in the sea, no longer worth the fee
Who’s crazy in the mind?

I can’t do as much in winter
As I can boosted by summer sun
I don’t tick to the same time clock
That most of the world is on

I struggle to understand things
And without understanding cannot play
So I play a different game
This is insanity, or so they say

Life is full of trauma, delights, highs and lows
Whether you are mad or not, that’s just how life goes

The things that cause the drama
The way you deal with it
Different strokes for different folks
Teetering on the edge of the loony pit

It only takes a stumble, a push, a nudge, a jump
Because you think you are sane, that’s were I hold my trump

A very nice write. A great message wrapped up in great word choice and a good flow to it.

normality is overstated... insanity is the new black, don't ya know! i enjoyed this, a very effective write, that highlights the insanity in what many would consider sane situations, and as you say, whose rules are they anyway!!! 2sdyx
