I do have other chances after all

This is something different for me; it may not be as great as other poems I have read, but they are my words. I heard a song form my fave singer Kirk Franklin and I had to write a few words down. Thank you Mr. Franklin you came in at a time that I needed a sign and you were it. I hope that there are other signs that can hit me as hard as yours did.

I sit at home…

I watch out the window and see each person.
They talk on their phone or yawn in slumber.
You sing your words and it cuts me deep.
My heart is overdrawn there is more as you speak.

There were so much you said to be true.
I am sorry for all that the world has put you through.
Believe in hope is what you said.
I took a chance and gave it blame.

As your song played, I never thought it would take me away.
I can not relate, but I cried as it played.
You’re more than a singer; you are a messenger.

I hear your tone and it washed your sorrows.
The sound of Jesus is here today and tomorrow.
I lack the understanding and the simplicity of life.
The mask is covered with red fear and keeps fighting for God's might.

I walk outside…

I see the people, but blend in as not to be seen.
Our children laugh, our mothers scorn, and our fathers weep in the outside society.
They take shame of their choices, but there’s no regret in their voices.
I hear your words when I look at the building; the building of worship and the home of God.

High and mighty as He shows us, not to blame us but protect us.
I sit in a corner ashamed and confused, but I wait for Him.
With your song in my head, I look up at his face.
I sometimes wish I had made that same sacrifice.

I give myself a chance to breathe and find my thoughts before I scream.
There’s a tremendous amount of warmth on my hand, was it Him or all in my head?
I try to get up, but feel so much force.

On my left a child who sleeps and on my right your Mother I see.
She is of beauty my heart aches with grief.
I take a chance and let her know; thank your Son for what He has done.

Although I keep hearing your song in my head,
I am late and have to get on my way.
I am always running and He knows that;
But there will be other times I will walk through that door again.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
