Same Old Song

Contributed by Butterat_Zool on Sunday, 9th February 2003 @ 10:20:00 PM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

You all know what I have to say
But I’m gonna tell you anyway.
You’ve heard it a thousand times before,
But here it is for you once more.

It’s the same old song,
And I fear you’ll forget it,
But sing along
Or soon you’ll regret it.
It’s the same old verse,
With the same old rhythm.
But now this goon’s on stage,
So go on, sing it with him.

I know already that you’ve been told
Not everything that glitters is made of gold.
You’ve met the gnome named Grimble Gromble,
Karma Police, and Floyd the Barber,
But listen up and listen good.
It’s this cat’s turn to now be heard.
Listen as I show the world
The anatomy of little girls.

It’s the same old song,
And I fear you’ll forget it,
But sing along
Or soon you’ll regret it.
It’s the same old verse,
With the same old rhythm.
But now this goon’s on stage,
So go on, sing it with him.

And everything’s been played before. x12

The same old song, with the same happy ending,
The tragedy that the hero’s pretending
To care about while moneychangers’ lending
Our souls about, though they aren’t for his spending.
Their dole is out, so here’s to mending
Their soulless bouts with jesus’ ending
His life for us, the white and the british
Now open up and prepare to bear witness
To entropy and the last law of physics.
It’s time to part from the boring, old music
And sing with heart the way that we choose it.
Speaking of heart, take mine and bruise it
‘cuz I don’t care enough to use it,

And everything’s been played before. x8
