Dukes meet with James at morning’s glow, strong knight,
and James wants me to show supporting role.
But he doth know this mind thinks scheme’s not right
for backing brother’s reign should be true goal.
Misplaced ambition vexes great this soul,
and me thinks James will league dukes vis-a-vis
to my stand, cavaliers to greed’s control.
Pox lay upon unclean cabal that be.
Their shameful high collusion nay will frighten me.
Stephanus Marcus, be with me next day.
Your blade is keen, your presence very brave.
With you at my near side dukes might not bray
their maledictions sounding loathsome grave.
What care have I, stout knight, should they behave
in manner bold to take this life of mine?
Your steelish glaive will stay their wonton crave
and haply you will seal the fate of nine.
But James wants Katharine as bride, this I did sign.

I really liked this. I liked the use of old english probably because I'm scottish and I am very familiar with it, and love to see it used, i admire the fact that you used it , it takes guts, I love the theme and will definitely read more of your work. I attempted this style as well under ny other name ThePhoenix with a poem titled "Poison " I can appreciate the effort it takes. |
